Eyelid Lift

Eyelid lift surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is a cosmetic procedure designed to enhance the appearance of the eyelids, tighten and lift sagging eyelid skin. This procedure can be performed on either the upper or lower eyelids, or both, removing excess skin, fat, and muscle, resulting in a more youthful and rested appearance. Additionally, those with droopy or sagging eyelids may experience improved vision and a reduction in eye fatigue after undergoing blepharoplasty.
It can be done alone or along with other procedures, such as laser, Brow-lift or Facelift.

Our experienced and skilled team of professionals will work with you to customize your blepharoplasty procedure to meet your individual aesthetic goals.

FAQ

1. Who is a good candidate for eyelid surgery?

You may want to consider eyelid surgery if you have any of the following: excess skin on your eyelids, loose skin hanging down over your eyelashes, puffy eyes, dark circles or eye bags under your eyes that did not improve with non invasive treatment options such as lasers or injectables.

2. What are the benefits of this surgery?

Eyelid surgery removes loose or sagging skin hanging down over your eyelashes, increases your visual fields, treats excess skin and fine wrinkles of the lower eyelid, eliminates puffiness on your upper lids or bags under your lower lids and fills the dark circle and tear trough using fat grafting or repositioning.

3. What type of anesthesia will you have?

Eyelid surgery can be performed under local anesthesia alone or under local anesthesia with intravenous sedation depending on the patient’s preference.

4. What type of incisions will I have?

The upper eyelid incision will be placed within the natural crease on the eyelid. This allows for removal of excess skin, repositioning of fat deposits and tightening of muscles. It fades away with time and becomes barely visible.

The lower eyelid incision may be placed just below the lower lash line if excess skin in the lower eyelid needs to be removed, or placed on the inside of the lower eyelid, if no skin removal is needed.

5. Will eyelid surgery change the shape of the eye?

Eyelid surgery does not change the shape of the eye when done properly. Removing an exaggerated amount of skin from the lower eyelid makes the eye rounder and over tightening the ligaments makes it smaller. Ideally your eye shape should look the same before and after the procedure. We work carefully as a team using a combination of lasers and minimally invasive surgeries to reduce the risk of a distorted eye and obtain the best outcome.

6. What to expect after the surgery?

It is normal to have swelling and some bruising for a few days after eyelid surgery, at The Skin Clinic we are proud to have developed techniques that reduce them tremendously. The recovery time is typically around 1 week, you should rest and avoid straining for the first 3-5 days and You will be able to return to work within a few days.

7. How long will the results last?

Although this surgery cannot stop your skin from aging, it can rejuvenate the eyes for a long time. An upper eyelid surgery result lasts between 5 to 10 years and a lower eyelid surgery rarely needs to be repeated.

8. What are the risks and complications of eyelid surgery?

Complications sometimes occur, but with proper patient preparation, careful execution and follow up we reduce their occurrence and if they ever occur we are able to manage them.
The risks of eyelid surgery will be discussed in full details during the consultation.
